When I was coming up with the concept for my platform I knew I wanted to dedicate a portion to healthy living. I’ve always heard that financial and health journey’s go hand in hand. I’m hoping that rings true for myself as well, (for obvious reasons) haha!
I had my son, Macklin, June 2018 and while I like to think I did a pretty good job staying up on my eating and exercise the mirror and scale don’t have the same message. At least not the message I want to see. Along my journey I’ll be tapping into my struggles but I also want to highlight what works for me.
I’m one of those people who have done it all, the yoyo dieting, the workout programs and even the 2 and 3 day cleanses. I’ve even done a Whole30 (shouts out to my husband who did it with me :)), actually did a Whole 90 once! Saw some good results but nothing that I could sustain over a long time unless I continued following the plan. At this point, I want to create my own plan! One that works for me personally and mentally, because we all know that if we can control our mental we can do anything. *Mic drop

With all that being said, I have created this page to keep you all updated on my progress with my goals, my eating, exercising and daily routines on my way to achieving and maintaining a lifestyle and body I can be proud of. Disclaimer: don’t expect rainbows and sunshine all the time because this shit is a struggle and I want to be as candid as possible. I know I can’t be the only one out here on a rollercoaster ride.
Consistently Hydrated Myself
The biggest piece of maintaining your health is so simple yet it’s so hard for me to maintain sometimes. As it says, it’s keeping your body hydrated. Hydrated with water that is. I’ll go through spurts of being on top of it then I’ll go a couple of weeks feeling like I’ve barely drunk anything. On the times when I am doing good, I have found that having a large water bottle helps. Large water bottles, like the ones on this link. When you can just carry one large one around per day you can see how much you’ve drunk by a certain time.
Recently, I’ve also started using a food tracker journal to help me keep up with the ounces of water I consume per day. I’m no expert or a dietician but I have come across articles that help you determine how many ounces of water you should take in daily. The easiest conversion is dividing your body weight by 2, then that is the number of ounces for you.
Created a Schedule (and stuck to it!)
Create your schedule. I’ve found that the more organized I am with my day the more I can get done. AND man if I can get my workout done before I start my day with my son and work then I feel so energized and ready to take on the day. The beauty of having your own journey is that you can switch it up as you need. I did a week where I worked out during lunch. I didn’t like it, but I’m happy I gave myself the permission to try it out.
Progress Pictures!
No matter when or how you start make sure you take pictures before so you can see your progress. During Whole30 you’re discouraged to look at the scale. When you can’t see the scale the next best thing is looking at your progress pictures. Make sure you wear the same clothes in all the pictures. Also, take them from different angles, front, left, right, back. If you really want to get details take measurements of your body and label them on the pictures.
What fitness or lifestyle journey’s are you all on right now? How long have you been on it? What are your goals? I’d love to hear it all, I’m all about creating a tribe!
